III. כִּנִים
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the ground,’ and throughout the land of Egypt the dust will become gnats.” They did this, and when Aaron stretched out his hand with the staff and struck the dust of the ground, gnats came on people and animals. All the dust throughout the land of Egypt became gnats. But when the magicians tried to produce gnats by their secret arts, they could not.
Since the gnats were on people and animals everywhere, the magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God.” But Pharaoh’s heart was hard and he would not listen, just as the Lord had said.
V. דֶּבֶר
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, “Let my people go, that they may serve me. For if you refuse to let them go and still hold them, behold, the hand of the Lord will fall with a very severe plague upon your livestock that are in the field, the horses, the donkeys, the camels, the herds, and the flocks. But the Lord will make a distinction between the livestock of Israel and the livestock of Egypt, so that nothing of all that belongs to the people of Israel shall die.”’”
And the Lord set a time, saying, “Tomorrow the Lord will do this thing in the land.” And the next day the Lord did this thing. All the livestock of the Egyptians died, but not one of the livestock of the people of Israel died. And Pharaoh sent, and behold, not one of the livestock of Israel was dead. But the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people go.

Sisters. They work in tandem, I've realized, providing each other sustenance from their individual hunts and entrapping their prey by closing in on it slowly. Very slowly. The Mother of Gnats gathers information, plans meticulously, and lines up victims for her kin. Primed for infection, The Disease takes the form of the African Malaria Mosquito, apt for the plague that it spreads.
This is no ordinary viral infection. The disease itself is its own sentient organism, apart from the mosquito, feeding on its host from the inside out. But not the flesh, it doesn't require blood or tissue. The mosquito is but a facilitator. Be aware of your state of mind, your pain and your turmoil are its sustenance. It will use your form to digest, and as a result, your body will expel the excess.
They've killed the town.
They now act as my jailors.
